When I first saw the headline in the Post Newspapers-Kazala accuses FAZ colleagues of not paying royalties on replica jerseys-I thought to myself Football Association of Zambia?
What would you expect from an association that has been plagued by Corruption allegations in the recent years? I am not surprised with the coming of such allegations by a high profiled official because there has been irrefutable proof of maladministration. Firstly, the Association’s leader, Kalusha Bwalya has made several trips to the country’s anti-corruption agency to account for some of the misdeeds at Football House although the matter has not been concluded so no one is guilty at the moment.
What about the revelations by former Association treasurer, Kelvin Mutafu on the shoddy Nike deal and his subsequent exit. These are some of the issues that have littered Football House lately. Honorable Richard Kazala has become the latest official within the rank and file of the association to drop a bombshell ahead of the much-anticipated annual general meeting scheduled 19th March, 2016.
Initially, the revelation and claims that his competitors for the position of Vice President are dishing out jerseys and balls to lower divisions teams had no vision and were simply paying back to the clubs what they had stolen. Hon. Kazala, who are these that are stealing from Football House and why are they being protected and why can’t they be reported to the Police for stealing public property?
For once l am left to digest a news article that speaks of volumes of awful management at Football House because integrity should be hallmark of leadership at all levels, which seems to have been elusive at Football House going by the several allegations made so far.
Ironically, Hon. Kazala has opted to back Kalusha Bwalya for the top job yet the latter has been in charge of football Association while all these questionable deals have been taking place under his noise.
I find the endorsement from Hon. Kazala, as not only worrying, unique and nerve-wrecking in the sense that the failures by the Association to benefit from the replica jerseys have been made possible by the very administration he has been serving under.
It is clear that there has been a lot of compromise in the administration of our football by the people that have entrusted to manage the football prospects in our country.
Admittedly, the allegations sound so sweet and best befits a campaign strategy only aimed at wooing the Councilors to vote for their respective candidates and is devoid of long term solutions of addressing the maladministration including corruption at Football House.
Since time immemorial I must also mention that the aspiring candidates have really developed crazy campaign messages and some are full of hidden meanings. It is therefore, prudent that the Councilors usher in an administration that will meet the aspirations of the many football loving Zambians so many that some have even died in pursuit of the game.
It can’t never. #Despiser
