Albino Exhumed in Nyimba

Police in Nyimba have launched a manhunt for unknown people who exhumed the body of an albino who was buried on 23rd June 2018.

Eastern Province police commissioner Luckson Sakala said the deceased Judith Mwanza 54, died on 21st June 2018.

Sakala said Nyimba district council chairperson Maxwell Kapanta reported to police that unknown people trespassed on Chipambe graveyard on unknown date but between 23rd June and 30 October 2018.

He said acting on the report police visited the scene and found that Mwanza’s grave was tempered with.

“After a physical check, the police officers’ discovered that in the coffin there were two pieces of Chitenge material, a blanket, a skirt, used gloves and a blouse but the body was missing,” Sakala said.

He said the body was taken to unknown place by unknown people. Sakala also said a renowned Reverend from Chipata’s Presbyterian

Church in Mchini compound has been arrested together with four members of his church after they fought at the church.

He said the church members accused Reverend Sonye Banda of mismanaging church funds and the fight ensued when they decided to block him from entering the church.

Sakala said Rev Banda and four church members were charged with affray and were only released after they paid admission of guilty fee.

He said the incident occurred on 28 October 2018 and the pastor and four church members were arrested on 29th October 2018.

The commissioner also said police have launched a man hunt for a named councilor in Chadiza district for defiling a 14 year old girl.

He said the matter was reported to Msupadzi police post and that the councilor is still at large.
