MwanakatweLusaka Central Patriotic Front parliamentary candidate Margaret Mwanakatwe says she is certain the ruling party is bouncing back to power.

And Mwanakatwe who is also Commerce Minister rebutted claims that she has no intentions of repaying a loan she got with her husband from the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission.

Appearing on Radio Phoenix’s Let the People Talk, a confident Mwanakatwe said the PF had put up enough works that present a case for re-election.

She said President Edgar Lungu had spearheaded a lot of projects that had won favour with the majority of Zambians.

Mwanakatwe faced up to accusations of having failed to pay a loan to the CEEC saying that she was committed to repaying it.

“The loan you are talking about is not even millions of kwacha. It was obtained by my husband and I under a company called Aluworks and it is a loan we intend to pay back. I am a good corporate citizen and intend to pay back,” she said.

The CEEC loan is reportedly in the range of K1.5 million.

Mwanakatwe said the loan schemes for marketeers and also buses being loaned to youths were not a campaign gimmick by the ruling party but a long term project.

“That program is the President’s initiative and it is money coming purely from well wishers supporting the President. It will continue even after elections,” she said.

“Even the buses these are programs that are not only for elections.”

Mwanakatwe said the CEEC was running effectively insisting that funds were well utilized to ensure that its revolving nature benefitted more eligible citizens.

This was in response to callers who raised issue with the manner the funds were given out.

She said that the PF had put youth unemployment problems at the top of their development agenda.

The Lusaka Central Constituency candidate said she had done enough in her constituency to carry the day.

Mwanakatwe said that encouraging local business people to enter into partnerships with foreign firms was key in growing the local industry.

“There is nothing wrong with Zambians being millionaires, when they have money, do not say they have stolen,” she said.

“Even in my office I need a cadre of Zambians ready to be partners with the many foreign companies that come through my office.”
