Opposition United Party for National Development vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba walked to freedom at 12:35 hours with his party president Hakainde Hichilema on hand to welcome him.
Mwamba popularly known as GBM ended his three nights behind bars this afternoon when magistrate Jennipher Bwalya granted him a K10, 000 bail with two working sureties.
The UPND vice president is facing a charge of threatening violence against President Edgar Lungu.
GBM is also in court on another charge of unlawful drilling and is due in court on Thursday.
The hordes of UPND cadres who accompanied GBM and Hichilema escorted the motorcade on foot all the way to the secretariat.
Addressing a media briefing at the party secretariat GBM said that the arrest was part of the plot to persecute the opposition party.
Magistrate Bwalya has set March 23 for mention and 11th April for commencement of trial.
