Namulambe Talks Diplomatic Relations In Parliament

Namulambe-on-ConventionThe touchy issue of diplomatic relations between Zambia and foreign powers took the spotlight in parliament when Mpongwe Member of Parliament Gabriel Namulambe sought what government’s position was on solidarity and counter marches by rival political parties.

Namulambe said the marches may have an adverse effect on diplomatic relations with foreign powers.

He wondered why quiet diplomacy had not been engaged to keep the matter under careful wraps.

In making his ruling Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mukondo Lungu advised Namulambe to file a question.

The ‘diplomatic incident’ caused by United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema when he met 15 diplomats accredited to Zambia has remained a hotly debated public subject.
