Renowned law professor Muna Ndulo has punched holes in the draft constitution that is due in parliament in the next sitting.
Professor Ndulo said the draft document was incoherent and needed to be re-worked by experts.
The draft constitution was published in the government gazette on August 1 and parliament will debate it at the next sitting.
Speaking during a Newsmakers Forum, Prof Ndulo cited the idea of a constitution court and Supreme Court being at par.
He said that in the court system there was a hierarchy and that should be the case for the Zambian court system.
The former Dean in the school of law at the University of Zambia said there were also clauses like the declaration of the Zambia as a Christian nation that should be screened.
He also said the dual citizenship clause was also another bit that should be widely scrutinized.
Prof Ndulo said a small team of experts with a strict deadline could refine the draft constitution to ensure that the process was dealt with thoroughly.
The rest of the draft constitution will go through parliament while part III of the constitution will go through a referendum that will be held alongside the 2016 general elections.
