Zambia has made a massive and disappointing drop on the FIFA ranking slumping an incredible 11 places on the monthly chart to occupy 10th place on the continent and 60th position in the world.
According to bolazambia.com, Chipolopolo played two crucial international matches in June against Lesotho (4-0 win) and Sudan (1-all draw) but the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifying results did not help coach Herve Renard’s side to secure a respectable status.
It seems the free fall since Chipolopolo won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 continues on the monthly chart released this morning in Zurich.
Last month, Zambia was seventh on the continent and were placed in 49 place in the world but will now be two places behind Cape Verde who stormed the top 10 brackets to secure 8th place on the continent.
Ivory Coast still top the continental chart and are trailed by Ghana in second place while Mali, Algeria and 2013 Nations Cup champions are occupying third to fifth place in that order.
2013 Nations Cup runners up Burkina Faso (6), Tunisia (7), Cape Verde Islands (8), South Africa (9) and Zambia (10) close the top 10 brackets.
On the global scene, Spain remain the number one commanding the chart while Brazil’s Confederations Cup win has secured the 2014 World Cup hosts a place back in the top 10 where England no longer hold a right to remain stuck among the giants.
