Kitwe Zampost Workers Down Tools

Unionised Workers at Zambia Postal Services (Zampost) in Kitwe have joined their counterparts in other parts of the country to down tools.

The Unionised workers locked all Zampost offices in Kitwe demanding that management settles them their five months salary arrears.

They have vowed not to resume work until their demands are met.

The Unionised Workers are also demanding payment for all allowance in form of education and other deductions amounting to K 2,500 per employee.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport Brian Mushimba said the delay to pay workers at Zampost is as a result of the company’s financial and liquidity challenges.

Mushimba said Management is currently liquidating the outstanding salaries arrears up to the end of August further instructing Zampost to collect the K20 million owed by government agencies and the private sector.
