The contempt case against Patriotic Front supporter Chanonda Ngwira who has been dragged to court by former Director of Public Prosecution Mutembo Nchito for writing allegedly threatening to two Supreme Court justices has been adjourned to March next year.
When the matter came up at the High Court today, Ngwira was not before the court with his lawyers presenting a sick note.
Nchito however questioned why Ngwira was not before the court as he had been very active on facebook as late as 23:00 hours.
Ngwira wrote letters to the judiciary asking them to discipline the two Supreme Court Justices Albert Wood and Mumba Malila who appeared as witnesses against the state in the Mutembo Nchito tribunal.
Nchito wants Ngwira cited for contempt for the letters he wrote to the two justices that he contends amount to criminal contempt.
The former DPP is challenging his dismissal from office as procedure was allegedly not followed.
“We will leave the court to decide, except that Mr Ngwira was active on facebook yesterday and posted a picture of himself around 23:00 hours but only to be given a sick note today,” Nchito has said.
The matter has been adjourned to March 18, 2019.
