The congestion situation in Chililabombwe has gotten out of hand with the authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo limiting the number of people entering that country.
Over 3, 000 trucks are marooned at Kasumbalesa Border Post exposing the community to some health hazards.
Chililabombwe Mayoress Christabel Mulala undertook a tour of Chisenda Border Post which has been inactive for years but active on the Congolese side.
Speaking when she visited the facility, Mulala said operationization the Chisenda Border Post would ease the pressure on the Kasumbalesa Border Post.
She said the facility is in a dilapidated state and will require rehabilitation to be fully operational
“The tour is in a bid to try and find solutions to the challenge of congestion, this is to mitigate the truck congestion currently being experienced at the Kasumbalesa border town. This border post has been neglected for years and it is high time we make it operational. I believe with minimal investment we can still recapitalise this facility,” Mulala said.
