Two Police Officers in North Western Province have been dismissed for gross misconduct in the last one year.
Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila disclosed the development but withheld names of the culprits.
Speaking during the 2018 Zambia Police Annual Ball in Solwezi, Namachila said the service has suffered misconduct among some of its officers.
He said the actions taken were aimed at restoring confidence in the service by the general public.
“In the last one year we have dismissed two officers on account of gross indiscipline, as a service we want to restore confidence in the service. I wish to restate here that any indiscipline will not be tolerated in the service,” Namachila said.
He was however said the service had also suffered a number of challenges among them recent shootings in Solwezi.
Namachila further urged his officers to exercise maximum restraint when under pressure to secure the environment from any damage arising from riotous conduct.
Meanwhile, Namachila said despite the bad eggs, the command will promote 17 officers for their outstanding performance in the course of duty.
