The Ghanaian Women National Team has arrived in Zambia ahead of Saturday’s international friendly against Zambia at Nkoloma Stadium.
Assistant coach Eddie Williams says the Black Queens will field the strongest team with nine foreign based players part of the contingent that arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 09:00 hours.
Williams said Ghana had tracked Zambia’s performance at the Cosafa Women Championship and were confident they will be given a good test.
“Ghana and Zambia are friends in terms of football, we are here to test our strength against Zambia. All the teams are preparing for the AFCON,” he said.
The first batch of arrivals comprised 15 players with 10 more players expected among them foreign based players that will fly directly to Lusaka from their bases.
Both teams will play at the 2018 African Women Championship to be hosted by Ghana starting on November 17.
Zambia has been shaping up for the tournament with their camp entering week two.
Coach Bruce Mwape has re-enforced his squad after the Cosafa outing and will be hoping to fine tune the team when they face Ghana.
Zambia is in Group B alongside Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
The Black Queens of Ghana have been accommodated at Golden Peacock Hotel.
Saturday’s international friendly will be played at Nkoloma Stadium at 15:00 hours and will give Zambian fans to watch their team before they head to the Africa Cup of Nations.
This game is a very important test for both of us to test our strength. This AFCON is also a World Cup qualifying tournament.
