President Edgar Lungu visited the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) to check on the two patients that underwent kidney transplant.
The Head of State also hailed the medical team that conducted the first ever kidney transplant in Zambia.
He said that such landmark surgical operations would ensure that Zambians reduced on seeking specialized treatment outside the country.
The two patients operated on are brothers with the landmark operation adding up to some of the latest novel medical experiences UTH has scored recently.
Patients seeking kidney transplant are usually referred to foreign countries with the cost being beyond the reach of ordinary Zambians.
And Minister of Health Dr Chitalu Chilufya revealed that government spends over 10 million dollars to send patients out of the country.
The mother to the patient Catherine Kasweshi was all joy by the medical milestone performed on her sons.
