NeversMumba-Rupiah-BandaReality of his political worth seem to have dawned on MMD president Nevers Mumba who has humbled himself before his predecessor Rupiah Banda in an attempt to seek political direction ahead of the August 11 general elections.

Mumba has until now been playing hard ball on any machinations to bring him to the negotiating table and has in the process lost long time party stalwarts who have trekked either to the ruling Patriotic Front or the opposition UPND.

There is also a faction led by Lunte Member of Parliament Felix Mutati that is sticking it out within the former ruling party but are at loggerheads with Mumba with their call for a convention unsettling the former pastor.

Mumba and Banda were locked into a meeting under the initiative of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia where indications are to lure Mumba into making the long proposed marriage with the PF ahead of the August 11 elections.

The MMD leader has been losing his grip on the talks given his outrageous demands that had seen him ask for the running mate slot which apparently the PF has reserved for a female.

Mumba may have to settle for a less flamboyant position in his very weakened position.

Banda and Mumba had crossed swords in last year’s presidential elections over who was going to carry the MMD flag with the latter getting the nod through a court ruling but only marshaled less than 15, 000 of the total national vote.
