Journalists in Zambia yesterday joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Press Freedom Day with their reflection focused on the elusive enactment of the Access to Information Bill.
The scribes marched to the Freedom Statue where they have routinely made their call for the Access to Information Bill to be realized annually within a stone’s throw from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Currently, the bill has yet to see the light of day with the possibility in the life of this parliament struck off after it was made clear by information minister Chishimba Kambwili that consultation on the matter is still on-going.
PF publicity chairperson Frank Bwalya and deputy information minister Forrie Tembo officiated the event.
