Lungu-LitungaPresident Edgar Lungu says the tribalists have left the ruling Patriotic Front to either join other political parties or form their own.

The Head of State who today heads to Muchinga Province said on arrival from Western Province that no one could hope to rule the country riding on the tribal card.

He said the ruling Patriotic Front had demonstrated its above tribal inclination by having accorded him, a non-Bemba person, to lead the party that was perceived to be dominated by Northerners.

President Lungu said he had brushes with tribal sentiments in PF during the race for the presidency after the death of President Michael Sata.

“I suffered from tribalism even in my party because there were people who have since left the party who felt either a Bisa or Bemba should take over after the death of President Sata. But the party gave me a chance,” he said.

President Lungu warned against the opportunistic use of the Barotse Agreement for political expedience by political players.

The Head of State is headed to Chama District of Muchinga Province where he will commission the Chama District Hospital.
