Nevers Mumba has admitted he has lost ground in reaching out to President Edgar Lungu over a possible alliance with the ruling Patriotic Front ahead of the August 11 general elections.
Mumba whose MMD house has fallen apart is currently in Eastern Province where all but one Member of Parliament from his party have endorsed President Lungu.
The other party in the former ruling party is pushing for a convention under the leadership of Lunte Member of Parliament Felix Mutati.
Last week the Lusaka High Court quashed Mumba’s bid to have the pro-convention group halted to have an elective congress.
The pastor turned politician is in Lundazi where he pressing the case for his fragile political bid.
Mumba has lost another batch of his parliamentarians to the opposition United Party for National Development.
President Lungu seems to have lost patience with Mumba whose indecision after having hit the brick wall over the running mate slot that the PF has made it clear is a preserve for a woman.
Mumba told the people of Lundazi that he has failed to secure an appointment with President Lungu.
