Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini will have to put his stamp on the chaotic events in parliament of last Thursday when he delivers his ruling following a point of order.
Last Thursday parliament witnessed unprecedented events with Katombora Member of Parliament David Livune having stirred controversy after having charged at Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda on the floor of the house while Solwezi West Member of Parliament Teddy Kasonso also had a scuffle with his Mufumbwe counterpart Stephen Masumba.
Kalomo Central lawmaker Request Muntanga asked Matibini what his take was on Thursday’s events with the Speaker reserving ruling on the matter.
Matibini said he will make his decision known at a later date.
Earlier Tourism Minister Jean Kapata brought the house up to speed with the incorporation of the Zambia Wildlife Authority into the ministry structures.
And Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa alleged that his constituency had degenerated into a state of police rule.
Mweetwa said that police had flooded the area infringing on the citizens’ rights who they routinely detained arbitrarily.
The Speaker directed Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila to deliver a Ministerial Statement on the matter during the course of the week.
