Higher Education Minister Michael Kaingu has poured cold water on reports that the University of Zambia and Copperbelt University will be opened soon by saying that will only happen once certain modalities are put in place.
The two public universities have been closed for a month over riots that broke out largely bordering on demands for meal allowances.
Government closed the two institutions pointing to alleged political interference sown by some political party leaders.
Kaingu said the two institutions will be closed until certain modalities were put in place.
The minister had announced that distance and parallel students who pay their own fees will continue learning but the move has not taken off with lecturers opting that the two streams will only learn once the school has been opened.
