The Zambia Police is keeping tabs at the University of Zambia which was closed indefinitely on Wednesday night.
The police are keeping watch and screening everyone entering campus at all the entry points.
It is feared that students may regroup and continue with their riotous behavior despite the institution being closed.
Education Minister Michael Kaingu closed the University of Zambia and the Copperbelt University following disturbances that be-dogged the two institutions.
The students were demanding that they be paid their meal allowances in full but government opted to pay them half their entitlement.
Unza has announced that distance, parallel and the school of medicine will remain open despite the closure.
