Social commentator Chilufya Tayali has taken issue with Rainbow Party founder Fred M’membe’s attempt to scandalise President Edgar Lungu for showing off some Koffi Olomide-styled dancing skill at the Zambia Air Force annual ball.
Tayali, who has often defended M’membe over his debt issues, says the Rainbow official was taking his dislike for President Lungu a little too far.

No doubt Fred M’membe is a hard worker and a thinker (Though ZRA is on him but I think he will survive) and I admire him for that. However, Fred mudala misses out something which is essential in anyone’s life. Recreation is important, though not too much at the expense of the State.
You need to enjoy a bit once in a while and President Lungu knows this. But putting up a ka good dance at an Army Ball, is very much in order. After all the man has the skill to show off.
I can’t imagine M’membe dancing. Loosen up mudala (Fred), you are still young and we only live once. We don’t know what is there after death.
For me, I jive jealousy down, especially if I have good company. I encourage all of you to enjoy life, don’t be discouraged by M’membe, for him is like that but I know somewhere he exerts his pressures out. But please don’t accuse him of being gay just to mess up his name. The man is a married man and has a good taste when it comes to such natural inclinations.
