UNZABackground accusations and counter accusations at the University of Zambia have emerged with two schools having released results for the 2014/15 academic year while others are still holding out hoping government will budge.

The School of Law and Medicine have released the results with their colleagues furious about the move that they feel may have weakened their bargaining power.

Government had offered to release K50 million towards the dismantling of contractual obligations over the period from September to December in batches but the lecturers have declined that route saying the amount is too small.

As a result the lecturers have held out with their protest leaving the re-opening of the country’s highest learning institution in doubt.

The results were set to be released by August 17 but have stayed under lock and key due to the standoff.

On Wednesday students took to the Great East road which they blocked and rioted until police quelled the disturbance. So far government has stood its ground with also lecturers staying put.
