Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba is the new star of UPND flying high with its leader Hakainde Hichilema. But not too long ago, Hichilema set his boys at the Zambian Watchdog on GBM. They UPND online media told Zambians GBM was corrupt and his filth at the Ministry of Defence led to fifth Republican president Michael Sata to fire senior army personnel.

Today, GBM is as clean as the UPND can suggest a “corrupt free man” fight for the poor. Which poor? With such language as “te ndalama shanoko ch*****”, the UPND found it fit to appoint the man as vice president.

ZAF General & Colonel fired for opposing GBM’s corruption

President Michael Sata a few days ago fired a General from the Zambia Air-force and a Colonel from the ministry of defence for what he termed ‘in national Interest’.
But sources in the army have revealed that Brigadier-General Steve H. Sakala and Colonel Davy Zulu were fired for opposing Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba’s corrupt activities.

Brigadier-General Steve H. Sakala was until last week head of purchasing at the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) while Colonel Davy Zulu was in charge of Procurement department at Ministry of defence.

Sources explained that the president was acting on instructions from his defence minister Godfrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM).

‘Facts are that the PF echelons in their quest to put more money in their cadres’ pockets have been sending cadres to ZAF to be given contracts to supply items. But the system operates by giving contracts to registered suppliers only who are registered with the Ministry.

‘Most of these cadres run briefcase companies which are not even registered. Because the officers at ZAF are professionals, the cadres are always turned away.

‘This has not gone down well with PF hierarchy and GBM decided to act by firing those he perceives to be a stumbling block in his campaign to enrich his cadres and himself.’

But one source warned defence minister Mwamba that ‘GBM should know that ZAF/defence is not like a milling company where he can fire people at will. He should be reminded that time will come when he will have to answer to his misdeed at Ministry of defence.’

A few months ago, Panji Kaunda was quietly removed from the ministry of defence as deputy minister. The Watchdog later revealed that Kaunda was removed for going to State House to complain about GBM’s corrupt activites.

Permanent Secretary at the ministry of defence Emeldah Chola was also replaced for saying no to GBM’s corruption at ministry of Defence, sources say. Sources say all these professionals who have been fired by GBM go with records and when the time comes, they will speak.

Two weeks ago, the Watchdog further revealed how minister Mwaamba harasses staff from finance departments at the ministry and defence units when they delay to pay for supplies from his companies.

Mwamba tells accountants that pay fast because ‘te ndalama shanoko chikala’.
