South Chiefs Defy Tribal Calls, Meet and Endorse Pres. Lungu

E.Lungu ChiefsTraditional leaders in the Southern Province have resolved to continue supporting the leadership of President Edgar Lungu whom they have described as a humble leader.

According to a news item by ZNBC, the chiefs made their declaration in Livingstone on Tuesday after holding a closed-door meeting with President Lungu to discuss various matters.

Chief Hamusonde of Monze who spoke on behalf of other traditional leaders after the
meeting said the deliberations were open and truthful.

He said the chiefs told the President the truth, and thatLungu did not feel offended and that the traditional leaders were equally not offended with the truth from the Head of State.

And Chief Chipepo, who prayed at the beginning and closing of the meeting, said Chiefs are proud to have a President who is humble and full of humility.

Chief Chipepo also said people who thought that traditional leaders in the Southern Province do not support Lungu should be ashamed and encouraged the President to continue preaching his message of “One Zambia One Nations” and unite people in the country.

The Chief also urged the Church in Zambia to preach peace, unity and love.
Chief Chipepo also prayed for all politicians in Zambia to have humility and respect for other people.

On Sunday, a group of Tongas met at an indaba dubbed Chuundu Chaitwa at which they resolved that Southern Province chiefs will not meet President Lungu until he fired some ministers they accused of insulting their tribe.
