President Edgar Lungu has pleaded the case for Zambians suffering from HIV/AIDS who are being deported back home by the Chinese government.
And President Edgar Lungu has ordered that a consulate be opened in the Chinese city of Guangzhou to ease the bureaucratic process of accessing the Zambian mission in Beijing.
President Lungu who met with the Chinese Prime Minister Li Kequiang said that he was disturbed that many Zambians were being sent away from China on account of their HIV status.
He said that HIV/AIDS was not a problem peculiar to race or tribe but a humanity challenge.
Earlier President Lungu had met with the Chinese premier at which various bilateral issues were tabled.
President Lungu has ordered that a consulate be opened in the Southern City of Guangzhou to ease the challenges Zambians that visit China face.
“I have decreed not that I am a dictator but I consulted that a consulate be opened in Guangzhou because many Zambians who visit that part find it difficult to interact with Beijing,” he said. The Head of State is in China on a State visit.
