Opposition United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema has confirmed he will be part of the second and final round of presidential debates after initially having shown hesitancy to tag along.
Hichilema, who has initially indicated albeit subtly that he would only come to the table if Patriotic Front candidate Edgar Lungu comes to the party, has confirmed through his media team that he will be present.
Tonight, Hichilema will join Forum for Democracy leader Edith Nawakwi, National Restoration Party’s Elias Chipimo, MMD’s Nevers Mumba and Green Party’s Peter
Sinkamba in what promises to be a more incisive debate.
Patriotic Front president Edgar Lungu is a doubt for the debate on the premise that he is busy with the campaign while Heritage Party president Godfrey Miyanda has pulled out. The debate is beamed live on Muvi TV and Hot FM radio station.
